A popular supermarket chain in Brazil, São João (Saint John) Supermercados was looking for an antimicrobial flooring solution that would promote impermeability and sanitary integrity at several of its store locations across the municipalities of Guaxupé, Muzambinho and Paraguaçu.
In order to minimize the risk of bacterial growth and contamination in food processing areas, it was essential that the floor finish be resistant to a wide variety of by-products and corrosive contaminants, including fats, hot oils, blood, sugar solutions and natural acids.
To address this challenge, Viapol collaborated with sister company Flowcrete to install more than 7,100 square feet of its Flowfresh MF antimicrobial, polyurethane flooring system in the supermarket chain’s food processing areas, such as freezers, walk-in coolers, meat processing rooms and bakeries. The floor was then coated with Flowfresh FC, an antimicrobial-treated cementitious urethane floor coating that is designed to complement Flowfresh MF.
Combined with Polygiene® silver-ion-based antimicrobial agent, Flowfresh floor coating systems provide a durable, hygienic finish that inhibits up to 99.9% of bacterial growth between cleaning cycles—allowing the supermarket chain to maintain the highest possible hygiene standards.
