For victims of domestic violence, the call to “shelter in place” at home isn’t always a feasible option. As a result, this has led to a significantly higher need for domestic violence shelters in the mist of the COVID-19 pandemic. With healthcare workers and caregivers around the world already facing a severe shortage of masks and other personal protective equipment (PPE), donations of these critical supplies to important places like domestic violence shelters can go overlooked.
When WomenSafe Inc., a domestic violence shelter serving Northeast Ohio, took to social media to express its urgent need for PPE so that it could continue providing emergency shelter and support services, Tremco Roofing & Building Maintenance immediately jumped into action. The company, a longtime supporter of WomenSafe, donated a total of 100 masks to help the shelter’s residents and advocate workers stay safe and healthy during this time of crisis.
For more than 15 years, Tremco Roofing and its subsidiary Weatherproofing Technologies Inc. (WTI)—both operating under the newly formed Tremco Construction Products Group—have supported WomenSafe through financial support, sponsorships and in-kind donations, including food, clothing, hygiene products, household items and more. In fact, earlier this year, WTI was recognized with a CAN/NRCA Community Involvement Award for its charitable efforts with the domestic violence shelter.
Way to go, Tremco Roofing and WTI, for recognizing the crucial work offered by WomenSafe and for providing it much-needed support during this especially difficult time!
