In celebration of International Women’s Day in early March, Tremco Construction Products Group (CPG) Korea sponsored a one-year donation of sealants to LIKE-US, an all-female home repair service company based in Seoul, Korea. Established in 2019, LIKE-US employs trained women technicians who provide refurbishment services to women in need of home repairs.
In Korea, concerns about housebreaking and related crimes have been increasing over the past few years. In fact, women account for 90% of violent crime victims in the country, with most involving sexual assaults. Because repair jobs are a traditionally male-dominated field, this initiative caters to single or otherwise vulnerable women who may not feel comfortable inviting a male stranger into their homes to perform repair or maintenance work.
In support of the LIKE-US initiative, Tremco CPG Korea has pledged to donate a one-year supply of sealants that will allow the company to carry out its business with greater efficiency and quality. Tremco’s SG556 silicone sealant was specifically chosen due to its multi-purpose use, low odor and easy application.
“LIKE-US is challenging industry norms and empowering women to rise up in fields that have long been considered male dominated. Their work is a clear reflection of this year’s International Women’s Day message: Choose to Challenge,” said Chong Hwee Ling, finance director at Tremco CPG Asia Pacific. “Tremco CPG is honored to be part of this, and we hope that our contribution creates a ripple of positive effects for women from all sectors of this industry.”
