To celebrate the season of giving, associates at the Singapore office of Tremco Construction Products Group (CPG) Asia Pacific (APAC) put together holiday care packs for 120 of its affiliated product applicators in Singapore.
This was part of a companywide initiative to support and improve its local communities, with a special focus on those in the construction and building industry. In 2020, Tremco CPG pledged to provide support for migrant workers whose lives have been among the most adversely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
In Singapore, the demographic with the highest infection rates were migrant workers living in shared dormitories. At its peak, an average of 1,400 cases of new infections were recorded daily, with a majority coming from dormitory-dwelling workers in the construction industry. As a result, the Singapore government implemented a nationwide lockdown for two months.
In the spirit of giving back to its local community, Tremco CPG APAC gifted each of the migrant workers with a holiday care pack containing packaged snacks, a food container, a face mask and miscellaneous personal care items.
“These workers have been through incredible hardship and suffering, and many of them have been away from their families for an unexpectedly long period,” said Shevonne Kok, country manager for the company’s Singapore office. “This holiday care pack is a way for us to do something meaningful to uplift their spirits during this holiday season.”
The gifts were presented to company officials by the local leadership team in appreciation of their unfailing support, dedication and cooperation in building a better and safer construction environment during these challenging times.
“This initiative serves as a timely reminder that a small gesture of kindness goes a long way in making a difference in someone else’s life,” said Chong Hwee Ling, finance director for Tremco CPG APAC.
