Krud Kutter, a line of cleaning products from Rust-Oleum, has been chosen as a 2021 Safer Choice Partner of the Year by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
An EPA Pollution Prevention (P2) program, Safer Choice helps consumers, businesses and purchasers source products containing ingredients that are safer for human health and the environment. The program includes practices that aim to reduce, eliminate or prevent pollution at its source, such as incorporating safer ingredients in products.
Since 2014, Rust-Oleum has steadily increased the number of Safer Choice certified products within its cleaning portfolio. In addition, in 2020, the company began to focus its cleaners development on concentrates and refillable bottles in an effort to reduce plastic waste, transportation fees and storage costs. As part of this initiative, multiple new formulas will be certified by Safer Choice.
In order to promote the EPA’s Safer Choice initiative, Rust-Oleum prominently showcases the Safer Choice label on all of its certified products through its product labeling, in-store pallet displays, as well as across its website, social media and catalog pages. In addition to moving most of its production closer to the company’s distribution centers in order to reduce fuel usage, Rust-Oleum also aims to increase its post-consumer plastic and recycled cardboard use in packaging and shipping boxes.
Winners of the Safer Choice Partner of the Year Award were recognized for their design, manufacture, selection and/or use of products with safer chemicals, as well as for their efforts to promote environmental justice, mitigate the impacts of climate change, support cleaner air and improve drinking water quality.
Kudos to the team at Rust-Oleum for helping to build a better world with safer products!
