In late July, more than 110 associates across Rust-Oleum participated in its 11th annual 5k fundraiser, a part of the company’s Rust-Oleum Cares program designed to support non-profit organizations that change, restore and transform the lives of others. Typically held in Arizona, this year’s 5k was made virtual to accommodate Covid-19 restrictions.
Everyone who participated in the fundraiser was given several days to run and/or walk the 5k distance. After having crossed the virtual finish line, associates completed a survey, selected a charity they wished to support, and uploaded a photo of themselves or their fitness tracker as proof of completion. For each 5k completed, Rust-Oleum donated $50. Altogether, Rust-Oleum associates raised a total of $5,550 for Feeding America, Wounded Warrior, American Red Cross, Partners in Health, Save the Children and No Kid Hungry.
Organized by Senior Director of Communications Lisa Bialecki, Rust-Oleum’s 5k fundraiser was a great way to encourage friendly competition amongst team members while also giving back to the community. Thanks to all of our Rust-Oleum associates who participated in the virtual 5k!
