Earlier this month, RPM Wood Finishes Group (WFG) wanted to find a way to say ‘thank you’ to its associates who have gone above and beyond to continue to service customers and maintain business operations since the initial outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
RPM WFG’s Vice President of Operations Sam Hinson, together with his team, came up with the idea to host an employee appreciation luncheon to recognize the dedication and hard work of the company’s plant and laboratory associates throughout the health crisis, while complying with COVID-19 safety guidelines. Without this devoted team working diligently behind the scenes, RPM WFG’s core mission of providing top-notch customer service wouldn’t be possible.
Several of RPM WFG’s senior leaders, along with their teams, worked together to plan a festive luncheon for associates. In an effort to personally express her gratitude while saving on costs, Director of Human Resources Sharon Nellenbach bought all of the necessary supplies and prepared for the event the night before, worked the luncheon during the day, and even returned later that night at midnight to serve those working 3rd shift at the plant.
On the day of the luncheon, Sam Hinson and RPM WFG’s Plant Production Manager John Pelliccione took the lead in grilling hamburgers and hot dogs, while Sharon and her team set up for the event. In order to maintain safe social distancing and keep the gathering to a minimum, Sharon scheduled 180 employees to come through the line in 15-minute intervals. There was music playing, people singing and even a little dancing!
As associates lined up for their lunches, RPM WFG’s senior leaders thanked each individual associate for their hard work and commitment during these challenging times. Though it would have been understandable to find an exhausted crew, OEM Industrial Group President Johnny Green was proud to be met with a workforce that was upbeat and genuinely grateful to be able to continue making a difference in their jobs every day. He remarked that the event was, “good for the soul.”
