Horace Mann School, a prestigious preparatory school in New York City, underwent significant renovations that damaged its polished concrete floors. Having previously worked with Stonhard during the installation of its Liquid Elements flooring in more than a dozen of the school’s physics labs and surrounding corridors, the facilities manager reached out to Stonhard for help in replacing the worn floors.
Though Horace Mann’s facilities manager had a variety of competitive samples, he chose Stonhard because of the company’s industry-leading reputation and custom capabilities. In order to address the school’s needs for both function and design, Stonhard developed and installed custom floor solution Stoncrete EFX, a seamless, troweled epoxy mortar system that has all the benefits of its Stonclad heavy-duty epoxy solution.
Stoncrete EFX was used to achieve the look of polished concrete while providing a highly durable finish. Featuring a unique recycled glass design, the decorative flooring perfectly matched the new corridor to the existing stairwells—giving the hallways a refreshed, distinct look. In addition, Stonhard installed flooring for the school’s pool deck and locker room using Stonshield SLT, a decorative, anti-slip flooring system.
